Tourism Event Grants

The Town Council recognises that regular annual events within Newtown are well received with the community, but also attract visitors from outside the area and have a valuable tourism and economic function. The Council believes support to an event that is either being established, re-established, or requires ongoing financial support, will ensure, and allow these events to take place on an annual basis.

To achieve this, annual grants of up to £2000 towards the running of an event will be made available each year. This amount is intended to aid the event organisers in facilitating significant expenditure and help ensure an annual calendar of events in Newtown.

The grants are available:

  • to groups or organisations:
  • for events with 100+ attendees
  • for annual events ie the event must be at least in its 2nd year
  • for events that attract visitors from outside the town

There is one round of applications each year. The closing date is 31 December, for events taking place in the following year.
