The County Returning Officer has published the Statement of Persons Nominated for the election which has been called to fill the vacancy for town councillor in Newtown Llanllwchaiarn West Ward, for Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, showing 4 nominations. • A poll will take place on 15th October 2025 at Newtown Crescent Christian Centre.
• Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on 29/09/2025. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
• Electors should take note that applications to vote by POST or requests to change or cancel an existing application must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at electoral.services@powys.gov.uk by 5.00pm on the 30/09/2025.
• Applications to vote by PROXY must reach the Electoral Registration Office by 5.00pm on the 07/10/2025.
• Applications to vote by emergency PROXY on the grounds of medical incapacity, or if your occupation, service or employment means you cannot go to a polling stations after the above deadlines must be made by 5.00 p.m. on POLLING DAY.
Town Clerk, Ed Humphreys welcomed candidates: “This is the first contested election for some time with 4 candidates for 1 seat so it’s encouraging to see such interest in the democratic process. I extend a warm welcome to those candidates who are prepared to stand; after all, local councils are in a unique position having an electoral mandate, can raise and allocate resources, and of course are local. I encourage all residents in the Ward to use their vote.
