On Sunday 27th September, members of the Newtown community gathered at All Saint’s Church for the Mayor’s Civic Service, a special occasion that brought together residents, community groups, local representatives and guests in a spirit of reflection, gratitude and unity.
Led by Rev Nia Wyn Morris and attended by Mayor Cllr Margaret Lewington and Newtown & Llanllwchairn Town Council, the service provided an opportunity to celebrate the strong sense of community that exists across Newtown and to recognise the many individuals and organisations who contribute to making our town a welcoming and vibrant place.
The Mayor’s Civic Service is an important event in the civic calendar, offering a moment to pause and reflect on the values of service, kindness and community spirit. The presence of so many people from across the town made the occasion particularly meaningful and demonstrated the continued commitment of residents to supporting one another and the wider community.
Mayor Cllr Margaret Lewington would like to express sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the service such a memorable occasion. Special thanks are also extended to Rev Nia for leading the service and to all at All Saint’s Church for their warm hospitality, support and dedication in hosting the event.
Events such as the Civic Service remind us of the importance of coming together, strengthening community connections and celebrating the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support local causes, organisations and initiatives throughout the year.
As Newtown continues to look ahead to a busy programme of community activities and events, the spirit of togetherness demonstrated during Sunday’s service serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared sense of purpose.
Thank you once again to everyone who attended, participated and contributed to making the Mayor’s Civic Service such a fitting and uplifting occasion.
Mayor Cllr Margaret Lewington and Newtown Town Council extend their appreciation to all who joined the service and look forward to continuing to work alongside our communities in the months ahead.
